Yesterday we received another visit from our author, Aileen Paterson!
She came in to see how we were getting on and to offer feedback on what we have been working on. We even got to see some of the new illustrations she has done for Maisie and the Night Visitor! All we can say for now is that they look great. Of course, we can’t show you any of them now, but watch this space for more updates from the Maisie team!
That isn’t our only news today… we are proud to announce that Blackwell’s Edinburgh will be exclusively stocking Maisie and the Night Visitor in a limited print run. Until you get your paws on Maisie’s latest book, you can pop into Blackwell’s Edinburgh and pick up some fantastic Maisie merchandise. They have jigsaws, mugs, prints, magnets and really cute Maisie tote bags. Blackwell’s have a long history of stocking the Maisie books and have been incredibly supportive of the project. We are very excited about the opportunity and can’t wait to see our book on the shelves in Blackwell’s.
Next week Maisie and the team are heading to the London Book Fair, so stay tuned for lots more Maisie related news coming soon!
Maisie had an exciting World Book Day last Thursday! She headed over to Blackwell’s in Edinburgh to check out what books she could get with her £1 voucher! If you didn’t know about World Book Day, it is a charity event that happens annually and is sponsored by the National Book Tokens Ltd. The charity allows every child in full-time education in the UK and Ireland to get a book £1 token that they can redeem in local bookstores for a brand new book.
Over 1.2 million children redeemed book tokens last year and this year Maisie was one of them! There were so many books to choose from, Maisie was spoilt for choice! Thanks to the helpful staff at Blackwell’s, Maisie picked her friend Douglas’s book ‘Hello, Hugless Douglas!’ by David Melling. Maisie tweeted all about her fun day over on her twitter page and so did her friends Blackwell’s.
You can still trade your £1 token in at participating bookstores until the 30th of March! For more information about World Book Day check out their website here.

After launching our social media campaign, we were thrilled to be contacted by STV Edinburgh who were interested in the project and wanted to do an interview with us.
2014 marks the 30th year anniversary of the Maisie books and we hope that this publicity will help to spread the news about Maisie and her big celebration!

Recently Aileen Paterson, author and illustrator of the Maisie series, came to visit the Maisie Pushkin team at the Merchiston campus. She had a quick tour of the departments to meet the team and was updated on what we are currently working on for Maisie and the Night Visitor. She is very excited about the project and told us, ‘It’s great that we’re going to improve this [Maisie & The Night Visitor] from 30 years ago’. Aileen brought some great Maisie illustrations for us to look at and potentially use.
She even brought us a couple of friends… introducing Maisie the puppet and one of the last remaining Maisie stuffed toys!
She even let the Marketing team take the Maisie toy home so that we can use her in our promotional material and social networking. I’m sure you may have already seen Maisie cropping up on our Twitter and Facebook pages! She will definitely be making many more appearances in the future! We are looking forward to further visits from Aileen so stay tuned for more updates from the Maisie Pushkin team!
