Merchiston Publishing, based at Edinburgh Napier University, is working on an exciting new project in collaboration with The Pushkin Prizes!
The Pushkin Prizes Anthology 2014 will be a collection of some of the winning entries of the creative writing competition, contributed by secondary school pupils between the age of 12-14.
The idea for this creative writing competition began in 1987, when Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin’s descendants gathered to mark the 150th anniversary of his death. One year later, in 1988, Lady Butter officially launched the creative writing competition in Scottish secondary schools in Tayside. Today, The Pushkin Prizes accepts entries from secondary schools throughout Scotland and Russia. The award ceremony takes place on 28th April 2014.
Throughout this project we hope to promote The Pushkin Prizes, whilst also promoting creative writing as a valuable endeavour for pupils and teachers. This year could not be a more fitting year for this project, as 2014 marks the UK-Russia Year of Culture. To find out more about this, visit this website: http://ukrussia2014.ru/en/
