Margot Reverdiau

IMG_3954My name is Margot Reverdiau, I am 23, a French expat’, and currently a student of MSc Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University. I have been studying Publishing for four years now, including three years in France. I was an apprentice at the Edition Milan (Toulouse, France), where I worked as an editorial assistant in the Fiction Department for a year.

My biggest goals include moving to the UK (check), find my path (almost check), reading more (I need to work on that), drawing and creating more (currently working on it), and become a graphic designer – and maybe, if I can, an Artistic director – (on my way to that).

I survive on art and pop culture. I love discovering new artists – musician, designers, filmmakers, authors or illustrators – and publications (my favorites of the moment are Platea and The Gentlewoman) and sharing them with my friends, whether they were a good experience… or not.

You can find me on social media here and here and on my blog/portfolio, here!

My name is Margot Reverdiau, and I am currently a student in Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University, after which I hope to work as a graphic designer in a publishing house or a magazine. I have been studying Publishing for four years now, including three years in France. I was an apprentice at the Edition Milan (Toulouse, France), where I worked as an editorial assistant in the Fiction Department for a year. On the various courses I have taken, I have learnt a range of skills and software including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, typography, printing techniques, future trends, new media, marketing, social media and advertising. On the MSc Publishing course, as we are working on a book project and a magazine project, I am undertaking two roles in the design departments: Design and Production Manager for the book project and Art Director for the magazine Buzz. For the book project, my role is to manage the design team and to make sure that every task is completed within the set deadlines, whilst also creating a cover and general design that will be used on all the material that we create around the book. This year, we are working on a new edition of Voyage to Arcturus, by David Lindsay. As for the magazine, taking on the role of Art Director means that I am creating an identity for the magazine Buzz. It involves rebranding the magazine, as the team felt that it could use a little make over, choosing the different fonts that will eventually be used, thinking about possible layouts for each and every article but also managing a team and listening to their ideas. I have already worked on a variety of projects over the course of my studies, including book and cover design, logos, fonts, etc., and I hope to acquire professional experience as a result of these projects and from the internship opportunities available over the course of my Masters. My biggest goals include moving to the UK (check), finding my path (almost check), reading more (I need to work on that), drawing and creating more (currently working on it), and become a graphic designer – and maybe, if I can, an Artistic director – (on my way on that). I survive on art and pop culture. I love discovering new artists – musician, designers, filmmakers, authors or illustrators – and publications (my favorites of the moment are Platea and the Gentlewoman) and sharing them with my friends, whether they were a good experience… or not.
